October 2016 Update
Firstly apologies for lack of updates but time just flies when you are having fun. Lots has happened over the summer months including the “olddogs” having a couple of weeks holiday - 1 week in Andalusia and 1 week in Gran Canaria. Both weeks could not have been more different.
The 1st week was spent in Montecorto which is not far from Rhonda in Andalusia. We rented a lovely cottage in the mountains and intended doing lots of walking. Unfortunately the temperature was 44 - 46 degrees so pretty damned hot. Also Bob’s hip playing him up. However we explored the area by our air conditioned car and the scenery was fantastic. Lovely white villages in the hills with great little bars and restaurants.
The 2nd week was spent near Teror in the mountainous part of Gran Canaria. Again we had a fantastic cottage with a superb jacuzzi. The weather was so different and we actually had rain on 3 days. Only downside no bars or restaurants near enough to walk to but again fabulous GREEN scenery.
Work wise everything as normal with Route 66 & Highland Paddy continuing to be packed every night. We also performed in The Plaza in Los Gigantes for “World Tourism Day” which was a fantastic evening when the “olddogs” were at their best. As usual the “olddogs” have been updating their repertoire so new songs for you to enjoy when you are next on the sunny isle.
Animal wise we are down to 4 dogs & 2 cats with Simba passing quietly away in late August. Chester (Lab) getting quite crippled at back end with arthritis and beginning to struggle on walks. Ozzy our one eyed dog also ageing and only goes walking once or twice a week. Sad times ahead I’m afraid.
Healthwise, Jill has had a check up with her voice doctor and all is well and she is sounding better than ever. Unfortunately Bob is about to undergo revision surgery for his replacement hip which has been troubling him for some time now. However the main reason for the surgery is to remove the current metal implant which due to a manufacturing defect has caused him to suffer cobalt blood poisoning. This has meant that he has been extremely tired for some time now and rather more irritable than usual! He goes for surgery on Oct. 10th.
Update: 11th October
Bob's surgery went well with no complications and here he is causing trouble from his hospital bed!
Jill will hold the fort and carry on solo until Bob is fit enough to return. Thank you all again for your continued support and thanks to Roadie Maureen for making holidays possible.
